Pottery Lessons
Private pottery throwing sessions on the potter's wheel (one each) for up to 4 people (discounts available for groups) run throughout the year with Chris Greening in North Worcester.
A great benefit of this course is that you get to both make and decorate your pots in the same session - there isn't a need to come back to the studio to do a further decorating stage (unless of course you want to!). We will use earthenware clay (as used in garden pots) clay with coloured slips (liquid clay) which gives a wide range of decorative options. Earthenware with decorative slips is a lovely combination that brings a warmth to the pots you make.
You can choose to book either a one-off lesson that is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those revisiting skills that may have got rusty or, sign up for multiple sessions to complete a pottery project. The workshop is equipped with 4 potter’s wheels and a range of tools which will be available for you to try out. Pottery is a very broad subject and it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but if you just want to “have a go at pottery” then we aim to throw and decorate at least two pots you can either take home (in raw clay state) at the end of the lesson or wait for it to be fired.
Please note - weekend (inc Bank Holidays) classes require a minimum of two people to book.
A couple of recent reviews:
"This was such a fantastic workshop, I learnt more about throwing and general ceramics practice in 1.5 hours than I have over the course of many different ceramics courses. Would highly recommend, so enjoyable and therapeutic!" Lara (May-26)
"Had a fantastic experience here for a couple of hours. There was just two of us so we had lots of Chris’s time. He showed us step by step how to get going and create something that was actually not disastrous like I expected. We both made two items each and then decorated them. Really enjoyed it. Fantastic teacher!!" Pete (Oct-25)
